An interesting experiment was completed in Greece regarding the photovoltaic penetration into the electricity production sector. Based on the relevant laws and in accordance to the related European directives, an explosive penetration process was completed in less than three years, resulting in a 7% share of photovoltaics in electricity production instead of the previous negligible share.
The legislation was based on licensing simplification and generous feed-in-tariffs. This approach transformed photovoltaic technology from a prohibitively expensive to a competitive one.
Which made this area an interesting setting for a new investment for IFRI-SOL that was studied and deliberatly choosing Malta as the perfect spot for exportation to our greek customers, through our partnership with MES Malta, we are now able to achieve well ordered exchanges and grant our customers a VAT free deal.
Malta is also chosen thanks to the approximity to Greece and the history of echanges taking place between the two destinations, Greece exports to Malta of electrical and electronic equipment was 7.13 Million during 2019, according to the United Nations COMTRADE database on international trade.
